It’s been 20 years since The Flaming Lips released The Soft Bulletin, an album often regarded as their break through release.
To celebrate its release, The Flaming Lips are bringing it to Australia’s Sydney Opera House and will be tearing up the Concert Hall on Monday 30th of September and Tuesday 1st of October.
Along with their Sydney Opera House appearances, The Flaming Lips will hit up Melbourne International Arts Festival on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th of October.
The psychedelic pop experts have released six studio albums since The Soft Bulletin and have collected three Grammy Awards with six nominations.
Head of Contemporary Music at Sydney Opera House, Ben Marshall says, “These evenings are the kind of thing music programmers like me can usually only dream of…
“Considered its era’s Pet Sounds, 20 years ago Oklahoma’s most fearless freaks The Flaming Lips created their masterpiece album, The Soft Bulletin, channeling all their potent sci-fi fetishism and weird psych-rock incandescence into a tightly focused, holistic concept record that was not only sonically brilliant but stunningly accessible and uplifting.”
