If you would have guessed that The Knife would be throwing a short film into the mix as they venture boldly into the new album cycle, then you’re doing better than the rest of us. The outfit has dropped a cheeky 13-minute short film known simply as The Interview.
The clip saw the band fuse creative forces once more with Marit Östberg, who was at the helm for their Full Of Fire video clip. The premise of the clip is to give fans a bit of a rundown of the thought process and overall intentions of the super fresh full-length from The Knife, Shaking The Habitual.
In their own cyptic way, The Knife explain, “We didn’t plan to make another album. We wanted to do something again but had to find a purpose. Music can be so meaningless. We had to find lust…by entering the work process with an open and inquiring mindset, the record turned into something completely different than it would have been if the end goal had been a finished album all along…Once you stop caring about rules”.
So far so good since the album release. Fans seem in overwhelming approval that Shaking The Habitual is worthy of the band’s reputation. If you’ve got the album, but not sure what to make of it, The Interview below should help.
