The Kooks will return to Australia in December/January for their first tour in three years, on the back of their appearance at the Falls and Southbound Festivals. Having sold out two previous Australian tours, including a sellout night at the Hordern Pavilion Sydney, The Kooks are eager to play to Australian audiences once more.
The Kooks third album Junk Of The Heart, released in September, was written by The Kooks, produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Air, Belle & Sebastian), and recorded in The Sound Factory (Los Angeles) and Sarm Studios (London). The band’s third album sees them consolidating their position as a bona fide album band with trademark breeziness and catchy hooks.
Frontman Luke Pritchard speaks about the album:
“It’s upbeat; an album to play in the sun. What we really wanted to do was build a proper, full album. Something you can listen to from front to back. We’re an album band and this is a journey you come on with us.”
Junk Of The Heart follows The Kooks on its platinum selling UK number one, Konk, released in 2008. The Kooks have sold over 2 million records globally. Fans will no doubt be hoping to hear classic songs from the back catalogue, as well as new material, when The Kooks arrive in Australia.
