The Rundown on House of Music 101: Wild Turkey’s Exclusive and Magical Event

Imagine a music event where new talent meets music legends, and fans get to perform on stage.. This was the Wild Turkey House of Music 101 event, held over two exciting days in Sydney in July. It wasn’t just about music; it was about learning, sharing, and celebrating the bold spirit of Wild Turkey. With stars like Angus and Julia Stone mentoring aspiring musicians and performing to guests, the event brought together a community of emerging musicians, seasoned artists, and music lovers in an unforgettable experience that truly embodied the Wild Turkey motto: “Trust Your Spirit.”

Sharing Wild Turkey’s Legacy

Wild Turkey’s “Trust Your Spirit” is more than a slogan; it’s a decades-long commitment to having bold, unapologetic confidence to stay true to yourself. Wild Turkey’s story is rooted in a commitment to doing things the right way, without compromise. This conviction has been championed by their Master Distiller Jimmy Russell, who mentored two generations of distillers, ensuring that the brand’s legacy of bold flavour and quality craftsmanship endures.

Now, Wild Turkey is applying its iconic outlook to supporting Australian music artists. First launched in 2021, the Trust Your Spirit campaign continues to expand in 2024. This year, the iconic brand hosted the House of Music 101 event, to celebrate the power of intuition and inspire creativity.

Mentoring the Next Generation of Musicians

Wild Turkey recognises that while one of the best places to grow as an artist is on the stage, some of the most valuable lessons are best learned first-hand, from those who forged the music path before us.

Just like Jimmy Russel dedicated his life to teaching his craft to the next generation, Wild Turkey is dedicated to supporting the next generation of Australian music talent through the newly launched Wild Turkey House of Music 101, a two night three day event giving up-and-coming Australian artists never before access to industry leaders.

The 2024 cohort was hand selected by Australian Legends Angus and Julia Stone, earning their spot in the program with their unique sound, style and individuality. Those chosen got the opportunity to partake in six carefully crafted lessons led by industry professionals at the iconic Studio 301. From stage presence to career management the lessons were carefully designed to give mentees the tools necessary to take the next step in their journey as an artist.

The grand prize, awarded to winning mentee, Velvet Bloom included the opportunity to play on stage at the Wild Turkey House of Music 101 once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to record an EP professionally with the help of Angus and Julia Stone.

The House of Music 101 Event Rundown

The two-day House of Music 101 event was an immersive experience, blending music mentorship with the enjoyment of Wild Turkey’s finest bourbons. From intimate concerts to spirit tastings, every aspect of the event was crafted to inspire both artists and audiences to trust their spirit.

The first night kicked off with the House of Music 101 event, an exclusive night reserved for family, friends, industry insiders, and the lucky competition winners. Hosted by Rolling Stone Australia editor Poppy Reid, the night featured performances by the Wild Turkey Music Program Mentee Cohort who shared original tracks and never-before-performed music.

The setting allowed for music as it should be: stripped down, genuine, intimate, and authentic. Guests relaxed on Chesterfield couches with Old Fashioned cocktails in hand. The venue was transformed to reflect the Wild Turkey spirit, with rustic decor, warm lighting, and an inviting ambiance.

The second night welcomed the 100 competition winners with complimentary Wild Turkey cocktails, delicious food, and performances from the next cohort of mentees. This night featured a joint performance by winning mentee Velvet Bloom and Platinum-certified group Angus & Julia Stone.
