It’s been 12 months since TISM made a surprise return at the 2022 Good Things festival. The cult alt-rock satirists have now released their first new single in nearly 20 years, the guitar-oriented ‘I’ve Gone Hillsong’. TISM have also revealed they’ll be performing three east coast headline shows in 2024. More details are to come.
The new single is accompanied by a music video comprising footage from TISM’s Good Things performances and the band’s series of Melbourne secret shows in November/December 2022. The footage is overlaid with the song’s characteristically profane lyrics – the first line is, “I like to pee on people from my balcony.”
TISM – ‘I’ve Gone Hillsong’
This opening line clears a path for references to poo-jogging, Nigerian princes, carbon vomiting and masturbating over “bushfires I create.” TISM released a cover of AC/DC’s ‘For Those About To Rock’ in 2020, which was originally recorded for an AC/DC covers album back in 1995. Their most recent original music featured on 2004’s The White Albun.
TISM were recently announced on the lineup for Mona Foma 2024. They’re headlining a free concert at Launceston’s Cataract Gorge Reserve on Saturday, 2nd March, alongside Cash Savage and The Last Drinks, Mulga Bore Hard Rock and FFLORA x Grace Chia.
The precise details of the band’s east coast headline shows remain under wraps, but you can register for pre-sale ticket access here.
