Tornado Club, the collaborative project of Danny Harley (The Kite String Tangle) and Elle Graham (Woodes), have shared a new single titled ‘Intuition’ alongside the announcement their debut EP, Reset, will arrive at the end of this month.
Following on from debut single ‘Something Was Missing’ in May, new single ‘Intuition’ foregrounds the two artists’ harmonised vocals above relatively sparse instrumentation and understated beats, slowly building to a lush, soaring crescendo.
Harley says the new song was written on the first day of studio sessions between the duo, and came the day after the end of a long-term relationship he’d been in for over a decade. “It worked similar to therapy in a way. It was kind of like processing it in real-time. It forces you to think and makes you more clear about how you’re feeling.”
Both tracks will appear on Reset, which is due to arrive on Friday, 30th July. The duo have also shared a brief documentary tracking their creative journey together, which you can watch below.
Harley and Graham began work on what would eventually become Tornado Club in-person at the tail end of 2019, before being completed remotely online. The pair also worked together on Graham’s debut Woodes album Crystal Ball, with Harley assisting on production duties.
“My relationship of almost 10 years had literally just fallen apart and Elle was supposed to come into the studio the next day. So I called her up and let her know where I was at and we just decided to go ahead with it anyway,” Harley elaborated. Graham added: “We went into that not thinking we were going to release it, it was just music as therapy or just talking it out.”
