The always important visual component to triple J’s Hottest 100 has now been announced. 45 of last year’s maddest jams made their way onto the Hottest 100 Volume 20 DVD, which is available from your local ABC Shop right now. Has it really been 20 years?!
The Hottest 100 of 2013 is sure to make for some good viewing, as most of these top tracks came with truly fantastic videos. Who can forget Major Lazer’s Get Free and that great Jamaican doco angle or Grimes and Oblivion, shot on 35mm starring her brother and his frat boy mates? There’s plenty of Aussie acts peppered with the international heavyweights, and you can skip all the ones you’re not too keen on! This will go perfect with any hangover.
If you pay close attention you’ll release that the tracklists of the CD, DVD and the Hottest 100 themselves aren’t exactly the same. Flume lost his top 5 placing to Icona Pop, but is still safe within the top 10, so the DVD feature offers a bit of a new perspective on the Top 100. Tracks such as Kimbra’s Warrior were given a totally new birth in the top 40 region, so it’s a whole new ride altogether.
