Triple J‘s annual regional music pilgrimage is back for another instalment with the station revealing the One Night Stand 2014 will be helmed by magnetic Melbourne MC Illy and suave Melbourne rock ‘n’ roller Dan Sultan. The event will take place on Saturday, May 17.
The two headliners will join three other artists to be announced over the course of the day by Triple J presenters Gemma Pike, Lewi McKirdy and The Doctor. The mystery location of the free regional festival will be revealed on Triple J’s Breakfast with Matt and Alex this Thursday morning. A local Triple J Unearthed act will be announced at a later date.
Illy will be fresh off his Cinemtaic Tour, which he kicked off this week, bringing the chops that have netted him awards, accolades, and a highly praised Like A Version, all around the country. Dan Sultan just rounded up his national tour, following the success of his new single and first release in four years Under Your Skin. Sultan’s fourth studio album is due out early April.
The One Night Stand is an annual concert series that has previously taken an abundance of great, Australian talent to fans in regional locations. Last year’s event marked the 10th anniversary of the free concert with Flume, The Rubens, Ball Park Music, and Seth Sentry rock the Dubbo Showgrounds in regional NSW.

UPDATE 10:23am 11/03/14: Gemma Pike has just announced that The Jungle Giants are also on the bill. Pike also confirmed that the festival will be broadcast and live streamed again this year after the multiplatform simulcast was debuted last year. More updates to come.
UPDATE 12:44pm 11/03/14: Lewi McKirdy has revealed that Mansfield’s favourite sons — and triple j Hottest 100 2013 top 20 entrants — Violent Soho are also on the One Night Stand lineup. Stay tuned for more info through the day.
UPDATE 4:16pm 11/03/14: Rufus have been announced as the second-last act to join the One Night Stand 2014 lineup. Band member John George called in from LA to deliver the good news to triple j’s The Doctor. All that remains is for the local Unearthed artist to be announced. We’ll expect to see that once we know where the festival will actually be held. Stay tuned.
UPDATE 8:35 13/03/14: Triple J have just announced the location for the One Night Stand, with the 2014 event taking place in the town of Mildura in northwestern Victoria. The Unearthed artist from the region will be chosen soon to join the massive homegrown lineup.
