Melbourne jangle-pop four-piece Twerps are primed and ready to take their second studio album Range Anxiety around the country with a headline tour this May, and they’ve even released a new video in celebration.
Twerps’ album launch tour will see the group play shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, supported by acts such as Free Time, UV Race, Holy Balm, Destiny 3000, Blank Realm and The Goon Sax.
Twerps have toured extensively in the last 12 months, playing sets at Sugar Mountain and supporting the likes of Belle & Sebastian and The War On Drugs. The group’s headline shows will no doubt see them in their element, though, and backed by a wealth of new material.
The band’s lineup has seen a major lineup change, with guitarist Julia MacFarlane and singer Marty Frawley the only remaining original members. The pair are now joined by Gus Lord, who was handpicked by the group’s former bassist Rick Milovanovic, and Alex MacFarlane. Both come from Melbourne’s The Stevens.
“There’s a mutual friendship and respect,” Twerps’ Julia MacFarlane told Music Feeds recently about the new lineup. “That definitely helps. I’m sure there are so many good bands that aren’t based on friendships, but I feel like that’s the only way that this particular band would work.”
Today, Twerps have also released the stop-action video for Range Anxiety cut Strangers (below), which was shot on Lord’s iPhone, and features some perfectly cute claymation.
Twerps’ Range Anxiety Australian album launch tour begins in Melbourne on Friday, 1st May. Tour and ticket details are available below.
