Unknown Mortal Orchestra Test Your Boundaries In New Clip ‘From The Sun’

Unknown Mortal Orchestra have released a video clip for single From the Sun from their latest album II. The upbeat, summery track is in strong contrast to the rather intense clip, which features a man relentlessly degraded in the name of art.

Placed on a chair and surrounded by…art students? sadists?…the man is subjected to some pretty strange treatment, which becomes increasingly over the top, until one dude starts urinating on him. The concept is reminiscent of Marina Abramovic’s Rhythm 0 art piece, designed to explore the limits of the relationship between artists and their audience, where strangers were invited to “use” an array of items on the passive Abramovic.

Some people might not be able to make it to the end of this one, but those who do will at least be rewarded with the sonic delights of the tune. Maybe you like the idea of stuffing dirty socks in someone’s mouth. Who knows?

UMO released II back in February of this year. Since then, it’s been non-stop action with relentless touring, including a stopover in Australia for Splendour In The Grass and some corresponding co-headlining sideshows with fellow lo-fi garage pop mavens Wavves, and shows in North America and Europe also on the horizon.

Stay tuned for a Music Feeds feature interview with man-with-the-plan Ruban Neilson coming soon!
