California prog/math-rock outfit Chon have announced they’ll be heading back to Australia in February 2020 for their first ever headline Australian tour.
Since their 2008 inception, the band have slowly been cementing their place as one of the more unique contemporary rock acts, combining intricate, interlocking guitars with idiosyncratic jazz rhythms.
The band made their first trip to Australia back in 2016, where they supported fellow US prog act Between the Buried and Me.
On their upcoming tour, they’ll be showing off cuts from their self-titled third studio album, which they released back in June.
“We really wanted to make songs with more simplistic structures, but also the craziest parts we’ve ever had musically,” guitarist Mario Camarena commented about the band’s latest work.
“I think our music is already so weird that when the structure is also crazy, it can be hard to follow. I really wanted this new album to appeal to people who maybe don’t listen to this style of music.”
