Vampire Weekend lead guitarist and vocalist Ezra Koenig has given an update on the band’s long awaited and much anticipated fourth studio album.
Its certainly been a long time between drinks, so to speak, for Vampire Weekend who released their incredible third record Modern Vampires of the City in 2013.
Late last year we copped some rumours that the next album was set to be released mid-2017, and now Koenig himself has given an update on the progress of the band’s first album since the departure of founding member Rostam Batmanglij.
In a post on Instagram Koenig announced that the forthcoming record is currently titled Mitsubishi Macchiato and spoke about what’s been happening since their last record. “I know it feels like it’s been an eternity since the last one but time…is strange,” he said, before revealing two song titles from the record; ‘Flower Moon’ and ‘Conversation.’
Koenig also explained that most of his 2015 was taken up working on a separate “vibey project” that we can expect to hear soon, and also that the new album is “a lil more springtime than the last one.”
