Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig Says New Album Is “80% Done”

Ezra Koenig has given a new update on the state of Vampire Weekend’s forthcoming fourth studio record, and their first since the departure of founding band member Rostam Batmanglij.

The update came via a response to a fan on Twitter, who was wondering how far along the new record might be in the form of a picture of a pie that was topped with the words “Where’s the album”.

Koenig’s response will leave Vampire Weekend fans worldwide with hope that we could see the new album by the end of the year.

“80% done but the last 20% is the hardest,” Koenig tweeted.

In March this year Koenig revealed that Mitsubishi Macchiato is the working title for the album, and spoke about what’s been happening since their last record. “I know it feels like it’s been an eternity since the last one but time…is strange,” he said, before revealing two song titles from the record; ‘Flower Moon’ and ‘Conversation.’

Vampire Weekend’s forthcoming album will be the first album from the band since 2013’s Modern Vampires of the City.
