The finalists for this years Vanda And Young Songwriting Competition have now been announced, pitting some of Australia’s music royalty against up and comers, all of whom have excelled in their field this year. The 35-strong list was put together by a panel of 25 judges sifting through a total of 3300 entries.
Big names that have made the list this year include Bertie Blackman who has had two compositions make the shortlist as well as Josh Pyke for his recent single Leeward Side, Thelma Plum, The Preatures, Deep Sea Arcade, Emma Louise and many more.
The list you see below is just a small portion of the 1900 different applications that entered the competition from around the world. Winners will find themselves in good company, joining the likes of 2009 winner Megan Washington and 2011’s Kimbra Johnson.
Thanks to APRA AMCOS and Alberts Music, the winner will be awarded a cool $50,000, with second place receiving a cheeky $10,000 thanks to AMPAL and third place winner taking out $5,000.
