Does Kyuss sound as sweet by any other name? We’re about to find out, with Vista Chino, aka John Garcia, Nick Oliveri and Brant Bjork, joined by Bruno Fevery, dropping sideshow dates for Sydney and Melbourne while they’re in town to play the Big Day Out 2014.
These Californian desert legends came back together in 2010, releasing their album Peace last August and proving that they’ve still got the stoner rock goods by the bagful. Vista Chino is a continuation of Kyuss rather than a new beginning, with the band named after the main road in their hometown of Palm Springs.
They’ll be hitting Melbourne’s 170 Russell on Wednesday, 22nd January, followed by a stop in at Sydney’s The Metro on Tuesday, 28th January, as well as playing the Big Day Out tour, which kicks off this Sunday, 19th January on the Gold Coast.
UPDATE 2:21PM 23/01/14: Helping Vista Chino riff the roof off their two sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne will be loud two-piece band, Dead.
