Gold Coast singer-songwriter Amy Shark has taken to the triple j studios for Ausmusic month’s second Like A Version.
As per usual, she performed an original and a cover, taking on Silverchair‘s classic 1999 track Miss You Love from their album Neon Ballroom.
It was an understated and emotive cover, as she replaced the heavier guitars of Silverchair with a keyboard and some echoey effects. “Silverchair was such a big part of my life,” said Shark. “Watching how they put that song together… I was addicted just from watching that.”
It was also just the second time Silverchair have been covered on Like A Version, after Illy performed Silverchair’s Tomorrow as part of a Like A Version mashup back in 2013.
While Shark was in the triple j studios, she also shed her band and performed her huge 2016 hit Adore with only a guitar and her vocals. Catch both performances in full, below.
Shark performs at Sydney’s The Plot festival later this month.
