Brisbane natives An Horse are one of many Australian bands who have firmly set their stall out to conquer the world by basing themselves overseas. These days based in the United States, the duo are slowly getting there, with the latest step forward being the video to their song Dressed Sharply, flagged up by Spinner as their Video of the Day. Head there to see it.
The song is taken from An Horse’s latest album, 2011’s Walls. The video was shot at New York’s famous Chelsea Hotel by director Alan Oritz.
One half of the band, Kate Cooper, said, “It was a lot of fun sitting in the dark in the Chelsea reading creepy tarot cards…Alan was really excited that we could drink wine. He figured this would loosen us up. Damon [Cox, bandmate] told him I was allergic to it. I think he was pretty disappointed. I think he was hoping for debauchery. Instead he got me talking too much while Damon and I sculled his grape juice. Another highlight was taking money out of Alan’s bank account on camera. It was the most money I had seen in a long time. I like that Alan had a very strong vision with this song. I really liked his take on it.”
The travails of shooting a music video in the modern age. An Horse are currently touring in North America, but are due to return to Australia in June for a three-date tour (details at their website) before heading back to the US, then Europe.
