An epic new supergroup has arisen to perform a one-off set packed with rock classics.
Sporting the combined superpowers of guitar hero Beck, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, the Wallflowers’ Jakob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band keyboardist Roy Bittan, Goldfrapp’s Davide Rossi and more, the musical mega-squadron reportedly joined forces at a Malibu fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club, a charity organisation that provides after-school programs for young people.
Performing on a relatively low key stage for such a high profile super-collab, the group powered through a setlist of iconic tunes, with Chris Martin manning lead vocal duties on Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb, Springsteen’s My Hometown and The Beach Boys’ Surfin’ USA.
A clip of the super (dooper) group performing the latter song was uploaded to Instagram by Chad Smith himself, who captioned the post with the words: “My new boy band” #lolzords.
During the evening, #1 Dad Chris Martin also took to the stage to cover Twenty One Pilots’ House Of Gold with his son, Moses, and Ariana Grande’s Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart with his daughter, Apple.
