Brother-sister duo BROODS have just dropped the first single Free from their forthcoming second album, with a music video to boot.
Created by fashion designer and music video director Jessie Hill, the video for Free is set in a strange, dystopian and futuristic prison, fitting as the song’s lyrics explore themes of entrapment and eventually, escape and freedom.
Free was co-produced and written with Grammy award-winning producer Joel Little who has worked with Elliphant, Lorde and Sam Smith in the past.
The track itself is intense, with more bite than what we’ve come to expect from the New Zealand musicians. Georgia Nott’s vocals explore both major and minor tonalities as well as the encompassing space in between, accompanied by driving synths and beats by brother Caleb.
