Cardi B has shared the massively anticipated follow up to her 2020 hit, ‘WAP’. ‘Up’ is a single that goes hard and so does the music video.
In the Youtube premiere for the video, Cardi B said, “I wanted to do something more gangsta, more cocky.”
She said she wants to veer away from the sexy image she’d created on ‘WAP’.
You can see what she means. The bars are tighter and the vocal delivery offers up a different vibe.
‘Up’ is a huge bop.
The music video for ‘Up’ begins with Cardi B sending the year of 2020 off.
Cardi is standing over a dead man in the opening shot before dancing and twerking atop a tombstone. “RIP 2020,” reads the man’s tombstone.
The outfits and choreography are spot on too. But the clip does offer up plenty of, “why?” moments, like the vision of many mini Cardi B heads in the rapper’s hair.
‘Up’ follows up last year’s collaborative effort with Megan Thee Stallion, ‘WAP’.

‘Up’ and ‘WAP’ are set to appear on Cardi’s second studio album. We’re yet to receive any details on the album just yet. ‘WAP’ came in at #6 in the 2020 Hottest 100 countdown.
Cardi B recently worked with Mike Myers and Dana Carvey of Wayne’s World on a Super Bowl commercial.
