Watch Coldplay’s Chris Martin Duet With George Michael In Touching Brit Awards Tribute

Coldplay’s Chris Martin has performed a touching tribute to the late George Michael at today’s Brit Awards in London.

Martin took to the stage during the awards ceremony to perform ‘A Different Corner’, which was originally released on Wham!’s final album Music From The Edge Of Heaven back in 1986. The performance saw Martin flanked by video of Michael, who sang along with the Coldplay frontman through some of the song.

Martin’s performance was introduced by Michael’s former Wham! bandmates Andrew Ridgeley, Pepsi and Shirlier, who became emotional while discussing Michael’s influence on their lives.

Speaking about Michael’s death, Ridgeley said, “A supernova in a firmament of shining stars had been extinguished, and it felt like the sky had fallen in. It started out ordinarily enough: In 1975, we were two boys that happened to share a mutual sense of humour, a love of life-affirming music, the records and artists it gave birth to, and a shared sense that we understood it.”

A tribute to George Michael also featured during the latest Grammy Awards ceremony earlier this month, with Adele stopping and restarting her performance of ‘Fastlove’ in honour of the late singer-songwriter.

This year’s Brit Awards also saw David Bowie’s son Duncan Jones pay tribute to his late father in a stirring speech.
