As well as blank stares and outlandishly coordinated outfits, Hot Chip are also known for their awesome live covers.
Lately, they’ve been injecting a bit of The Boss into their sets, busting out a cover of your dad’s favourite song, Dancing In The Dark by Bruce Springsteen, as well as LCD Soundsystem’s All My Friends.
And to take things to the next level, they’ve just recorded a studio version of the two tracks, mashed into one epic super-cover.
The UK electronic outfit have released the official recording, alongside a music video stuffed with archive footage from ’80s community television, which is sure to make you feel not so much nostalgic for the era as strongly relieved that a time when serial killer glasses and pencil porn ‘staches were socially acceptable is long, long in the past.
Springsteen’s rock classic gets the Hot Chip synth-hype treatment and eventually bleeds into LCD Soundsystem around the 5 minute mark.
The cover is set to feature on the group’s upcoming EP, which will also include an alternate take of Cry for You, plus remixes of Huarache Lights by Soulwax and A/Jus/Ted.
Meanwhile, Hot Chip are still touring off their most recent record, Why Make Sense? , which will see them head to our shores early next year for the Sugar Mountain festival.
While you count down, check out their official music video for Dancing In The Dark/All My Friends, below.
