Actual presidential candidate Kanye West has decided it’s about time to release the first ad of his election campaign, 22 days before America hits the polls.
He’s dropped a minute-long video on Twitter to his nearly 40 million followers spruiking his platform and it’s, shall we say, very Jesus-happy.
Speaking over cheesy music as an American flag billows in the background and shutterstock-level footage is spliced in throughout, the rapper makes no apologies for metaphorically clobbering us over the head with a bible in his rousing call for religious conformity and a return to traditional family values.
“We as a people will revive our nation’s commitment to faith, to what our constitution calls the free exercise of religion, including, of course, prayer. Through prayer, faith can be restored,” he says.
Subtextually, the speech also smacks pretty heavily of his well-documented anti-abortion views.
“We have to act on faith with a sure knowledge that we are pursuing the right goals and doing the right things. We will build a stronger country by building stronger families,” West says.
“Families are the building blocks of society, of a nation. By turning to faith, we will be the kind of nation — the kind of people — God intends us to be.”
The video ends with the classic “I am Kanye West and I approve this message” endorsement, plus text urging fans to write him in on the ballot.
ICYMI the rapper has missed a whole bunch of deadlines in his eleventh hour bid for the White House, leading many to believe the move is nothing but an expensive publicity stunt to suck votes away from democratic candidate Joe Biden, in the hopes of Yeezy’s m8 Trump getting back in for another term.
