Lamb of God released their new, self-titled album last week, and to celebrate, the metal legends have kicked off an online event series for fans with a pulverising, three-song lockdown set recorded while the band self-isolates due to the coronavirus pandemic.
With each member performing remotely, the band’s Quarantine Session sees them perform two songs from their latest album – ‘New Colossal Hate’ and ‘Checkmate’ – along with classic ‘Laid to Rest’ from their 2004 major-label debut Ashes of the Wake. As Rolling Stone point out, it’s the first time the band have played ‘New Colossal Hate’ in a live setting.
As part of the celebrations, the band’s Randy Blythe will be doing a Reddit AMA on r/music tomorrow. If you’re an Aussie, you’ll have to be up pretty early/late to catch it – it’s going down 3am AEST.
The new record marks the first for the band under the Lamb of God name since their 2015 album VII: Sturm und Drang – their longest gap between albums. Recorded with longtime producer Josh Wilbur, it also marks the first album with new drummer Art Cruz, who replaced longtime sticksman Chris Adler after the latter left the band in 2019.
