Watch Mike From ‘Stranger Things’ Give PUP’s New Album A Stellar Review

It turns out the little legend who plays Mike Wheeler on the incredi-mazing Netflix show Stranger Things is a big fan of PUP‘s new album, The Dream Is Over.

The demogorgon-smiting pre-teen, also known as Finn Wolfhard, has given the Canadian punk rockers’ 2016 LP the equivalent of Eleven out of Eleven, in a new video that was beamed to crowds at the Canadian Polaris Music Prize Gala (which the band were unable to attend due to being on tour in Europe).

“They have a lot of great gang songs, great gang vocals,” Wolfhard says of the new album. “Stefan [Babcock] has a great voice on the record. It’s a total group effort I guess.”

The young Dungeon master also lists off a few of his fave songs off the band’s new disc in the clip, before challenging the lads themselves to what appears to be a musical version of the Stranger Things plot staple, Dungeons & Dragons.

Spoiler alert: guitarist Steve Sladkowski chokes out massively, after which Finn regrettably informs him that he’s “just been eaten by a combo of Grimes and Carly Rae Jepsen”.

Brutal.

FYI: Finn and PUP actually go way back. Before playing Mike on Stranger Things, the talented tween was cast as a young version of Babcock in the band’s 2014 semi-autobiographical video for Guilt Trip, off their self-titled album.

And he’s also a budding young muso himself, being known to upload random Nirvana guitar covers to the interweb.

Check out Finn Wolfhard starring in PUP’s Guilt Trip video – and reviewing their new album The Dream Is Over – in the videos below, or else catch PUP when they tour the new album here in Australia this October, including a cameo on the Yours & Owls lineup.
