Watch Tame Impala’s Electronics-Heavy Performance Of ‘Borderline’ On ‘Fallon’

Tame Impala were musical guests on the most recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Similar to their remote “Tame Impala Soundsystem” performance as part of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series last month, Kevin Parker and co. delivered an electronics-heavy rendition of their The Slow Rush track ‘Borderline’. As with the Tiny Desk performance (which included the new interpretations of ‘Breathe Deeper’, ‘Is It True’ and ‘Patience’,) the band rework the track up from its original foundation to craft a trippy, psychedelic synth odyssey. It’s well worth the watch.

The Slow Rush arrived back in February of this year, recorded in Los Angeles along with Parker’s home studio in Fremantle. In our review of the record, we said album four saw the band “no longer immersed in the swirling technicolour of psychedelic rock, but instead staying afloat atop the controlled chaos of maximalist pop – with a Kevin Parker twist, of course.”

Late last month, it was reported that Parker had purchased Wave House, the recording studio and property 256 kilometres south of Perth where he recorded Tame Impala’s debut album, 2009’s Innerspeaker.
