The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber have teamed up at the 2021 Video Music Awards for a joint performance of their huge collaborative single ‘Stay’.
In front of a very enthusiastic audience at the Barclays Arena in Brooklyn, the pair began their powerhouse performance on top of a mountain set piece with colourful visuals behind them and a full band in tow. At the song’s conclusion, LAROI departed the stage for Bieber to perform ‘Ghost’, lifted from his latest studio album Justice.
‘Stay’, lifted from LAROI’s mixtape F*ck Love 3: Over You, was nominated at this year’s VMAs for Song of the Summer. Both artists also received multiple other nominations in this year’s awards, with LAROI receiving Push Performance of the Year and Best New Artist nods – though losing out in both categories to Olivia Rodrigo.
Bieber, meanwhile, scored a whopping nine nominations, so far winning Artist of the Year and Best Pop for ‘Peaches’ with Daniel Caesar and Giveon.
LAROI and Bieber are just two of the many artists on this year’s VMAs performance list alongside the likes of Rodrigo, Kacey Musgraves, Twenty One Pilots, Ed Sheeran, Lil Nas X, Doja Cat, Foo Fighters and Machine Gun Kelly.
