Watch Tim Rogers Get His Kit Off & Dance To Kanye In This New Ad

Fervent fashionista and You Am I frontman Tim Rogers has surprised fans by taking a little turn on the catwalk in a new campaign for David Jones.

Feeling just too sexy for his shirt in the clip, Rogers gets rid of it as he conducts the buildings of Sydney’s skyline to the tune of Kanye West‘s Power, embodying “Swagger”. Yeah, you read that right, Tim Rodgers is shirtless dancing on a rooftop to Kanye in the clip whose main inspiration seems to be cocaine.

While the beer loving muso might have been better suited to embody “stagger” than “swagger”, his is only one part of a larger campaign where other iconic Australians symbolise abstract concepts. Rogers himself was somewhat bemused by his inclusion however, and commenting on his casting to news.com.au, he joked that “the only time my face or body gets asked to do something visual is to play the part of a coke addict or criminal.”

As well as Rodgers, the campaign also includes Adam Goodes who portrays “Power”; Jessica Gomes as “Confidence”; gold-plated model Tahnee Atkinson as “Sensual”; and Sydney Dance Company dancer Juliette Barton as “Fierce”.

While some purists out there might see Roger’s role in the campaign as a betrayal of rock and roll’s anti corporate ideals, with You Am I’s tenth album Porridge & Hotsauce due to be released on Friday, November 6th, you can’t really hold a little profile raising against the man. Not to mention some fundraising, ‘cos god knows musicians in Australia don’t have it easy these days.

Recorded in Bushwick in Brooklyn, the album is the band’s first release since their self-titled 2010 album. Featuring lead single Good Advices, the band will be launching the record with a 19-date national tour beginning in Geelong on Thursday, October 29th. See tour date below.
