Watch Twelve-Year-Old Lorde Perform At Her School’s Battle Of The Bands

Thanks to our good friend the Internet, footage has emerged of a twelve-year-old Lorde (Ella Yellich O’Connor) performing with her school band, and even playing a Pixie Lott cover on Radio New Zealand. If this isn’t proof that Lorde has been refining her raw talent since an early age, I don’t know what is.

At her school’s Battle Of The Bands competition, her band (the perfectly-named ‘Extreme’) deliver a solid performance of Rainbow’s 1975 hard-rock classic Man On The Silver Mountain. Somehow, they only came third, despite O’Connor’s Dio-throwback leather jacket. The second clip is a recording of her playing a soulful cover of Pixie Lott’s synth-pop hit Mama Do.

The now 17-year-old recently published some musings on her staggering rise to fame, and has now scored a $2.5m publishing deal. She has certainly come a long way in a short amount of time. Watch all the magic unfold below.
