Watch Vetta Borne Cover Gwen Stefani’s ‘Cool’ For Triple J Like A Version

Vetta Borne has taken on this week’s triple j Like A Version. She’s taken on a noughties classic, Gwen Stefani’s ‘Cool’, taken from 2004 album, Love. Angel. Music. Baby.

The Melbourne-based producer and multi-instrumentalist took along an all-girl band for the cover. They capture the emotion of the original perfectly while slowing it down and creating a more organic kind of pop sound.

In her Behind the Like A Version, Vetta Borne said, “Every time I hear ‘Cool’, it takes me back to being a teenager. Like that really dramatic heartbreak feeling when you’re a teen. It’s just the end of the world.”

“It’s kind of the same energy I tried to put into ‘Kissing Strangers’ as well. It’s very bittersweet but hopeful.”

“I think there’s something so beautiful in that lyric, ‘After all that we’ve been through, I know we’re cool.’ Like it’s so simple but it’s very impactful.”

To keep that bittersweet vibe Vetta Borne mentioned, she also performed her original ‘Kissing Strangers’.
