Watch The Wiggles Cover AC/DC In Tribute To Malcolm Young

Tributes have been flowing in for AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young since his death on Saturday at the age of 64, with the likes of Foo Fighters and Guns N’ Roses honouring the late rocker by covering Acca Dacca songs.

But there’s another huge band that’s also paid their respects to Young, and it’s none other than Australia’s most successful children’s entertainers and purveyors of hot potatoes, The Wiggles.

Some amazing footage has emerged (below) of the current generation Wiggles using their show at Perth Arena on Sunday to cover the guitar riff from AC/DC’s ‘Thunderstruck’ in tribute to Young, while their wiggly crew of rock-fans-in-the-making clap along.

In a statement to Music Feeds, blue Wiggle Anthony Field says, “All of us were so saddened by Malcolm’s passing.

“’Thunderstruck’ has always been a favourite at Wiggly sound check, Perth Arena was really rocking, I guess I just wanted to acknowledge Malcolm’s contribution to Aussie music, so Ollie hit ‘Thunderstruck’ in the Middle of ‘Incy Wincy Spider’.

“The parents and some of the children loved it! Rock in Peace Malcolm!”

The Wiggles even managed to do a better job of honouring Malcolm Young than Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, who couldn’t name any AC/DC songs when he was asked on radio earlier today to name his favourite Acca Dacca track.

Melbourne’s Herald Sun newspaper even mistakenly called Young a bass player, despite the fact that he was the band’s founding rhythm guitarist.

Watch The Wiggles take the Big Red Car for a cruise down the Highway To Hell with a brief (but awesome) cover of ‘Thunderstruck’, below.
