Weezer has shared a new song called ‘Tell Me What You Want’ at Summer Game Fest. Written for new “skate-boating” video game, Wave Break, it’s a classic guitar-driven rock Weezer track.
The game is described as “the world’s first skateBOATING game” and saw the band perform the track live at the annual showcase for new video games.
‘Tell Me What You Want’ is a tune but it’s also a massive drag on Pitchfork. The divisive publication scored their latest release Van Weezer at 5.9.
“[Rivers Cuomo is] still biting rap lingo and chasing whatever the kids are into,” said Pitchfork in the review.
“His best and worst songs alike resound with the simplicity and shamelessness of youth. Cuomo’s Peter Pan syndrome is why many mortified fans bailed on Weezer years ago.”
Now, in the diss-track, Cuomo opens with, “This is a message that my manager wouldn’t approve.”
“After this song he’ll have a lot of cleaning up to do / Don’t be influenced by an office full of dorks,” sings Cuomo.
“I won’t mention any names,” he drops before coughing a few times. “Pitchfork.”
