Will Smith is releasing a new album nearly two decades after his last. The actor and singer revealed the news in an interview with the Instagram account, Black Film Allies.
Smith’s last album, “Lost and Found,” came out in 2005. At age 55, he’s eager to share his newest, and most personal, music with the world.
Will Smith Has Not Revealed The Album Title Yet
“Over the past year and a half, I’ve been in the studio,” Smith said. “I have a project that’s the most personal and powerful music project I’ve ever done. And the idea of the music is, ‘Dance in your darkest moments.'”
Though Smith did not reveal the title of the album and the date it will be released, there is an Instagram page that currently exists, with a website under construction, both titled “Dance in Your Darkest Moments.” The Instagram bio describes it as “a human wellness initiative designed to inspire self-exploration, encourage acceptance, & cultivate a celebration for life.” This album is supposed to fall under the category of Gospel Rap.
On the 30th of June, Smith performed a brand new track, “You Can Make It,” at the BET Awards. The song is currently sitting at No. 14 on Gospel Songs. He also previewed a new collaboration with Russ, “Work of Art,” which comes out Friday.
Earlier this year, Smith released new music as part of the soundtrack for “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” with his song “Light Em Up” featuring Sean Paul.
