Sad news for music fans in Wollongong today, as one of the city’s most iconic music spots, Rad Bar, has announced it is closing in June.
In a post on Facebook, venue owner Daniel Radburn announced that, come June, Rad Bar will be forced to close in way of a multi-storey office block.
“As soul crushing as this news is, there is absolutely nothing we can do at this point and we encourage you all to make the most of the last couple of months here,” Radburn writes.
“Come down, crack a tin, watch some great live music and let’s send it off in style!”
“Over the past 6 years this little venue has been a place many, including myself have called home and I’d like to say a massive thank you to the Yours and Owls crew, anyone who has ever helped out or worked at the venue, all my current staff members…every artist who has ever performed or contributed to this venue and all the music, art and culture lovers who have occupied and made this venue their own.”
“You are all the reason this venue has been so important and special in our community.”
