You’ll Soon Be Able To Book A Stay At Jeff Buckley’s Old Memphis Home On Airbnb

Dear Jeff Buckley superfans, grab your suitcases (and maybe your guitar) because the late singer’s former Memphis home is about to go up on Airbnb!

The house was snapped up by real estate agent David Lorrison and developer Eric Goode for a paltry USD $143,800 back in March after it had been left unoccupied and gathering dust (plus a bit of mould) for a year. But these two enterprising music buffs saw potential in more than just a fixer-upper. Lorrison and Goode have been working hard to restore the house to its former glory, with plans to list it on Airbnb for Buckley enthusiasts to come and soak up the history.

But don’t expect a full-on shrine situation. “I want this to be in homage to him, but not like a hipster’s Graceland,” Lorrison said, clearly aware of Memphis’ famous rock-and-roll neighbour.

Despite being somewhat ignored by locals, Buckley fans have made pilgrimages to the home for years. Some have driven miles to make videos of the place, hoping to walk in the footsteps of the ethereal artist who recorded his legendary music in the Tennessee capital.

Lorrison and Goode’s goal? To create a space that’s a true tribute, while balancing history with homeyness. They’re planning to furnish the interior with period-appropriate decor, in the hopes of taking it live on Airbnb this November.

FYI this wouldn’t be the first time a musician’s stomping grounds have become Airbnb gold. The American Football house, a mecca for emo fans, is available for stays, as are iconic Beatles-related venues in Liverpool.

It comes as Buckley’s only studio album Grace celebrated its 30th anniversary earlier this year.
