Yungblud Approaches New Album With A Deeply Personal Vision

Yungblud, known for his hit “Fleabag,” is taking a unique approach to his upcoming album, treating it as if it’s the last one he’ll ever make. The 27-year-old musician, whose real name is Dom Harrison, aims to break free from genre constraints and give fans a glimpse into his soul.

In a recent interview on the ‘Happy Place’ podcast with Fearne Cotton, Yungblud explained his mindset: “I’m almost approaching my next album like, if I die now, what is the one album I want to leave behind? Regardless of genre, is it cool, will it make 150,000 people move? I’ve literally just thrown that out the window, and I’m like, what does my soul want to say?”

Yungblud credits his debut book, You Need To Exist, with influencing his new music. He shared that creating the book helped him shape his next album by allowing him to focus on capturing his soul through music. “This book has almost helped me write my next album because it’s kind of gone like, f*** it, someone’s soul captured on record, or in a painting, or in a book, or in a movie script – that’s when it truly transcends time,” he said.

He emphasized that the coolest thing about a person is their soul, which is unique to everyone. Success, according to Yungblud, isn’t about money or fame but about expressing one’s true self.

Yungblud’s last studio album was his self-titled release in 2022. With this new project, he aims to continue exploring his individuality and sharing it with the world.
