PREMIERE: Dean Lewis Shares A “Dark Idea” In ‘Need You Now’ Music Video

Singer-songwriter Dean Lewis has dropped the dark music video for his latest single ‘Need You Now’ right here on Music Feeds, ahead of his newly-announced debut EP Same Kind Of Different.

Charting a bloke’s inner demons, addiction problems and continual self-destruction, the ‘Need You Now’ video acts in contrast to the song’s warmer instrumentation.

“Instead of the video being a direct reflection of the lyrics, we came up with this dark idea of this guy who is keeping everything together on the surface but on weekends he loses himself,” Lewis says.

“I have seen a lot of friends who have gone through that, so it’s close to home for me.”

The video was directed by Lewis’ mate Mick Jones, who also filmed the video for Lewis’ debut single ‘Waves’.

“When Dean and I were talking ideas for the video for ‘Need You Now’, it was a matter of building a narrative that actually didn’t directly reflect the lyrics,” Jones says.

“We wanted a storyline about addiction and a guy stuck in a dark, downward spiral but we thought that the feeling connected with that imagery really sat well with the song and fit the visual tone we were after.”

Same Kind Of Different is set for release on Friday, 12th May, and will include both ‘Need You Now’ and ‘Waves’ on its track list. Watch the video for ‘Need You Now’, below.

Lewis will perform at Groovin The Moo festival in Maitland this upcoming weekend.
