A 22-year-old man has been arrested over the murder of controversial 20-year-old American rapper XXXTentacion (real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy), who was shot in South Florida on Monday.
22-year-old Dedrick Devonshay Williams was arrested during a traffic stop on Wednesday night, and charged with first-degree murder, driving without a license and violating his probation, police have confirmed.
A judge has also reportedly signed arrest warrants for two other suspects, who are yet to be apprehended.
The arrest of Williams comes after rappers Soldier Kidd and Soldier JoJo denied any involvement in XXXTentacion’s death, after social media posts led some people to believe they could have been responsible for the shooting.
Police earlier said the shooting was an “apparent robbery”, which took place at a motorcycle dealership.
Since Onfroy’s death, the music world has offered mixed reactions to his passing, given his controversial past. Spotify has also copped backlash for promoting his music following his death, after previously removing his music from all of its playlists.
