Adele has used a concert in Brisbane to confirm (after months of speculation) that she is now married to her longterm partner Simon Konecki.
28-year-old Adele revealed news of the pair’s union during her show at The Gabba on Saturday night, while talking to the crowd about her song ‘Someone Like You’.
“As bad as a break-up can be and as bitter and horrible and messy as it can be, that feeling when you first fall for someone is the best feeling on earth, and I am addicted to that feeling. Obviously, I can’t go through with those feelings because I’m married now. I’ve found my next person,” Adele told fans.
“That feeling… when you first meet someone and everything around you just feels alive for the first time. I wanted to go back to that, and that’s what this song is about.”

Adele and Konecki (42) have previously refused to confirm whether or not they are married. They’ve been together since 2011, and have a four-year-old son.
As Billboard points out, questions around Adele’s marital status were revived at this year’s Grammy Awards, when she thanked her “husband” during the ceremony. Konecki was also spotted wearing a gold band on his ring finger at this year’s Brit Awards in February.
During the first of her two Brisbane shows over the weekend, Adele also told Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk to “shut up” with all his “bloody moaning” about her playing at The Gabba, after concerns were raised about public transport and the health of The Gabba’s cricket pitch.
Adele’s debut Australian tour continues in Sydney later this week, before heading to Melbourne and Adelaide. Here’s the full setlist and review of the tour’s first stop in Perth.
