At the Drive-In have plans for a worldwide reissue of their 1996 debut Acrobatic Tenement and 2000’s Relationship of Command, the band’s final album before breaking-up in 2001.
As reported by Pitchfork, Acrobatic Tenement will be re-released worldwide (excluding the UK) on 5th March, followed by Relationship of Command on 22nd April.
Of course, Australia already received its reissues last year, with the new edition of Relationship of Command featuring songs from their 2001 triple j Live at the Wireless. For the rest of the world, both albums will be rereleased on CD, digital and vinyl with a limited run of colour vinyl for Relationship of Command to be issued for Record Store Day on 20th April, 2013.
ATDI guitarist Jim Ward said the reissue was a bookend of the band’s first chapter.
“It was interesting to revisit the recordings that bookended the first chapters of our band,” stated Ward in a press release. “The earnest and pure excitement of the beginning and the level of craftsmanship we achieved by Relationship of Command leaves me nothing but proud. I am happy these records have found their way to continue to feel new as people discover music they love and embrace our work.”
As noted by Pitchfork, Ward’s words perhaps hint at a new chapter for At The Drive-In, whose reunion shows brought them to Australia last year for Splendour in the Grass. The news should come as some solace to fans after The Mars Volta announced the band had broken-up last week.
