Authorities Say Avicii’s Cause Of Death Was “Not Suspicious”

UPDATE: Avicii’s Cause Of Death Has Reportedly Been Revealed

ORIGINAL STORY: Authorities investigating the shock death of Swedish producer Avicii have ruled out any foul play, revealing that his autopsy results indicate “nothing suspicious”.

According to Sweden’s public broadcaster SVT, police in Oman have conducted two autopsies on the body of the beloved DJ, who died on Friday at the age of just 28 while holidaying in the city of Muscat.

As translated by CNN, “two postmortems were carried out … and [police] can confirm that there is no criminal suspicion in the death”.

Avicii’s body has reportedly now been cleared to be taken back to his native Sweden.

The Grammy-nominated EDM legend, whose real name was Tim Bergling, retired from touring back in 2016 after several years of ongoing health issues, including “acute pancreatitis, in part due to excessive drinking”.

He was hospitalised in 2012, before suffering from sporadic stomach issues a year later leading eventually to a ruptured appendix, along with needing to have his gallbladder removed in 2014.

He last toured Australia in 2013 as part of Future Music Festival, and was taken to hospital in Brisbane during that time.

Tributes to the electro superstar have been pouring in across social media since the news of his death hit the web, with Calvin Harris describing him as as “a beautiful soul, passionate and extremely talented with so much more to do”.

Meanwhile, others of Avicii’s musical peers have performed live tributes in his honour, with Sydney DJ Alison Wonderland using her history-making gig at Coachella to lead the crowd in a tear-jerking live tribute to his memory, and Dutch producer Armin van Buuren also paying homage to Avicii during his gig at Sydney’s A State Of Trance festival on Saturday night.
