Beck Announces New Album ‘Morning Phase’, A “Companion Piece” To ‘Sea Change’

Beck has inked a deal with Capital Records and is now preparing to strike while the iron is hot, today confirming that he will release a new LP titled Morning Phase in February 2014. Morning Phase, his first album proper in 6 years, is being billed as a “companion piece” to 2002’s acoustic-driven Sea Change.

Of course, Beck is known for his comprehensive grasp on pop culture and relevant artists, so Morning Phase is sure to feature several guests artists, in fact, many of the same ones that featured on it’s 2002 older sibling.

Beck hasn’t exactly been quiet over the 6-year period, just last year releasing a 20-song book of sheet music under the title of Song Reader. The last full-length from Beck came in the form of 2008’s Modern Guilt which marked the end of his long relationship with record label and Interscope off shoot DGC.

At this point in time, that’s just about all we know about the forthcoming album. Earlier in the year it was revealed that Beck had plans on releasing two full-length albums in the near future. It’s unclear if that is still on the cards at this point, or whether latest singles Gimme, Defriended or I Won’t Be Long will feature.
