Forget over-hype and epic teaser campaigns – Beck is dropping new material that speaks for itself, today releasing the gorgeous, melancholy I Won’t Be Long, our second listen to new material from the singer songwriter this year.
I Won’t Be Long is a laid-back slice of reverby pop that starts out playing by the rules but quickly gets unwieldly – just what the doctor ordered for your mid-week afternoon. It’s a dabble in the electronic side of things again for the multi-instrumentalist, not dissimilar from the excellent Defriended that the 42-year-old revealed last month.
Beck has previously announced that he’ll be releasing not 1 but 2 new albums in 2013, both of which will be released independently after his split from Universal Music – an acoustic stand-alone work and a recorded follow-up to 2008′s Modern Guilt.
