Chance The Rapper Hospitalised, Cancels Coachella Appearance

Chance the Rapper, real name Chancelor Bennett, was taken to hospital on Sunday, forcing him to cancel his scheduled set during the closing night of Coachella 2014. Representatives for the rapper revealed the news on Twitter Sunday afternoon, followed by a statement on Bennett’s Facebook.

“On behalf of Chance and our entire team- We sincerely regret to have to cancel our 2nd weekend at Coachella,” the post reads. While the cause of Bennett’s hospitalisation has not been revealed, reps assure fans that “doctors and family are with him & he is expected to make a full recovery.”

The Chicago emcee had tweeted on Friday evening that he was feeling ill after performing at the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas. He stated that he had the next two days off and assured fans that he would make a “full recovery” in time for his performance during Coachella’s second weekend.

A photo of Bennett in bed and hooked up to IVs with the caption “Pray for my boy chance” was posted to Instagram, but has since been removed. Official statements have thanked fans for “the prayers and support during this time,” saying, “Chance, his team and family deeply appreciate it.”

Bennett was slated to make an appearance in Australia earlier this year as part of Eminem‘s massive Rapture 2014 bill, but later cancelled his spot on the roster via Twitter, telling fans that “due to me being mad tired I won’t be joining Em and Kendrick on the australia tour in march.”
