Childish Gambino Announces New Album ‘Because The Internet’, Drops New Track

Childish Gambino seems overly proud of his latest cut Yaphet Kotto (Freestyle), given that he released the full thing only moments after releasing the teaser, but you can’t really blame the dude – he’s got a new album, Because The Internet, to plug.

Once again, Gambeezy has crafted a tune rife with pop culture references being fired off at a rapid rate. His new material seems to be even more Kanye West-esque than usual, spending more time addressing ‘the haters’ than discussing cult-classic TV programs, Pokemon or chillwave indie bands. Regardless, the dude’s intensity is infectious so you’ll want to listen along anyway.

One of hip hop’s more reclusive figures, it’s normally impossible to tell what Gambino is scheming but this time round he’s being unusually straight up. Hours before releasing the full track, Gambino released a brief snippet of the track which finished with the title cards “Because The Internet” and “Winter Break” – Because The Internet is his upcoming album title and it’s expected to drop in North American some time around winter break.

Given the rapid turnover with Yaphet Kotto (Freestyle) this morning, we can expect the new album cycle to move fairly quickly for Childish Gambino. And so it damn well should.
