Damon Albarn Cancels Opera House Show Following Sydney Siege

Due to an ongoing siege in Sydney’s CBD today, Blur frontman Damon Albarn has announced the cancellation of tonight’s scheduled show at the Sydney Opera House as the venue is currently shut down. Albarn will make up for the show tomorrow evening with two Opera House performances.

“Due to circumstances beyond our control, tonight’s Sydney Opera House performance has been rescheduled to tomorrow, Tuesday 16th Dec at 7:00pm,” read a statement from the Opera House. Albarn will play two shows at the Opera House tomorrow evening, one beginning at 7:00pm and another at 9:30pm.

The Sydney Opera House was evacuated and shut down after it was revealed that an armed man had taken hostage an undisclosed number of people at a Martin Place café. It is not known whether the Opera House shut down was in any way related to the siege.

Ticketholders unable to attend the new show can request a full refund from the Opera House.
