D’arcy Wretzky Ex-Smashing Pumpkins Bassist Arrested

The former bassist of Smashing Pumpkins, D’arcy Wretzky has been detained after missing four scheduled court appearances, and avoiding the payment of a subsequent fine.

Wretzky was detained after breaching the state’s ‘Animals Running at Large’ law in 2009 when horses she kept in her home escaped and ran loose around her local town in Michigan, where she was born and still lives.

Wretzky joined Smashing Pumpkins in the 90’s line-up after overhearing Billy Corgan (vocals, guitar) criticising a band which had performed at a local rock club. An argument/discussion followed and Wretzky was asked to join Smashing Pumpkins, which at the time was only made up of Corgan, James Iha and a drum machine.

She was replaced in 2000 by Melissa Auf der Maur and has no part in the band’s current reformation.
