Dave Grohl Reckons Lil Pump Could Be The Future Of Punk Rock

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has given his opinion about the future of punk rock saying it could be a young hip-hop star.

Grohl has been a part of the rock community for nearly three decades now but his eldest daughter is showing him what’s popular right now and it seems he’s embracing it.

Asked about the future of punk rock by GQ Grohl said, “It depends how you define punk rock.”

He then went on to talk about Lil Pump, calling his song ‘Gucci Gang’ “hilarious”.

“For my eldest daughter, Lil Pump is punk rock,” he then said.

“In 2018, music doesn’t – and shouldn’t – sound like it did when I was 14. I guess for me punk rock is about a state of independence and if that’s Lil Pump then so be it. It’s about being free to do whatever the hell you want to do.”

It’s not the first time he’s expressed his love of Pump either. On the Brit Awards red carpet this year he said, “I got sucked into Lil Pump’s world and I’m stuck. I can’t get out!”

‘Gucci Gang’ has become a phenomenon. It has nearly 700 million views on YouTube and cracked the top 10 of the US charts. Maybe a Foo Fighters x Lil Pump collab could be on the cards?
