Does disastrous show signal the end of career for Amy Winehouse?

Today it was announced through the singer’s spokesperson that Amy Winehouse would be cancelling the remaining dates on her European tour. The statement read “Everyone involved wishes to do everything they can to help her return to her best and she will be given as long as it takes for this to happen.”

The star was checked into the Priory Clinic less than one month before the start of the tour for drug and alcohol addiction and failed to make it past her first performance in Belgrade. In a bid to keep Winehouse sober, her management had banned alcohol from the tour, including from all of the hotels where the singer and crew would be staying. Concert organisers are trying to track down where the singer obtained whatever it was that got her so wasted, and have said they might seek compensation if it turned out to be the hotel or someone related to the event that had agreed to keep alcohol away from the star.

It’s not looking good for Winehouse, who has been struggling with drug and alcohol problems for years. It’s hard to see just how she’ll be able to make a comeback from her most recent show in Belgrade where her performance was more embarrassing than entertaining.
