This Epic Star Wars-Themed Metal Band Will Bring You To The Dark Side

With the latest Star Wars film The Force Awakens now out in the wild, the newly-created Star Wars-themed metal band Galactic Empire have gifted fans with an epic cover of the series’ beloved theme song, and it’s so darn heavy it’ll probably make you join the dark side.

Galactic Empire’s six-minute Star Wars cover (below) stars Boba Fett on drums, a Stormtrooper on bass, a Shadow Trooper and Imperial Guard on rhythm guitar and a typically brutal Darth Vader who’s prepared to crush you on lead guitar.

“These instruments are crude but should be adequate to shred some faces as we journey across the galaxy,” Darth Vader says.

“We have been doubling our efforts to complete our debut full-length album in time for the Emperor’s arrival. If you are not part of the Rebel Alliance or a traitor, buy our single on iTunes and prepare to succumb to the Dark Side upon our album’s release.”

Galactic Empire’s cover of the Star Wars theme is full of chugging riffs, pummeling metal drumming, wailing solos, some kick-ass costumes and even Darth Vader destroying someone mid-song. It stays pretty true to John Williams’ original composition too, and there’s no The Force Awakens spoilers either.

The cover comes after the cast of The Force Awakens came together to perform the theme completely a capella earlier this week.

Galactic Empire’s effort is available to stream below and for download on iTunes. Galactic Empire’s debut album is planned for release in 2016.

Until then, may the Force be with you.
